Solar Potential
Solar potential refers to the average sun hours per day that location receives. The latitude, slope, and orientation of the roof section is critical to how much sun it receives. To identify the optimal solution, we use image analysis to measure these factors. To read the compass, imagine you are standing on your roof, facing down slope, therefore facing South to Southwest is ideal.
Preferred Roof Section
For a variety of reasons, such as not wanting your panels facing the street or an HOA request, you may prefer your panels to be in a particular location. If no pins are placed, we will use the optimal location for solar production. In the case that your selection reduces production from optimal by >20% we will contact you to verify your choice.
Roof Material & Age
Installing solar panels on certain types of roof can be more complex and therefore costly. For the most accurate proposal, it is best to include this info upfront. Also, with older roofs it may be worth installing a new roof before you go solar, otherwise the system would have to be removed and reinstalled (which is possible, but adds costs).
