How CollectiveSol Works

Making Solar Less Expensive

CollectiveSol is free to the property owner. We charge installers a small fee, lower than what they would pay to sell solar panels in person. By introducing competitive bidding, we find lower prices for the customer. The process becomes more efficient, and everybody wins.

Cost to Dealers

Today, solar panels are sold in a very inefficient way.  The typical customer will seek proposals from multiple dealers, each of whom will send a salesperson to the customer’s location; these proposals can take the better part of a day to produce.  In effect, the customer is actually paying for the inefficiency, since the costs of selling are passed through to the final price tag.  These costs include the commission to the salesperson, overhead expenses such as management and office space, and marketing expenses.  CollectiveSol reduces these costs by up to 50%, saving money for the customer and the installer.

CollectiveSol uses a closed-bid, single round auction.  For greater transparency, we release aggregate bidding data on a monthly basis.  Dealer data is kept private, and fees are paid to CollectiveSol upon final inspection.

Cost to Customers

CollectiveSol is free to property owners, and there is no commitment to buy until a specific proposal is chosen and a contract is signed.  Instead of charging property owners, we save them money.

CollectiveSol uses a closed-bid, single round auction

It’s a simple economic fact that when multiple companies compete for business, the price to the customer goes down.  CollectiveSol helps save money by allowing a handful of solar dealers to bid on each project.   The customer can choose whichever proposal they want.  If their aim is to have the least expensive installation possible, we can help them get there.  Or, if a customer is looking for a good deal from a name they recognize, we can make that happen, too.
